Preview of My Little Baby for the Nintedo DS

My Little Baby is a game for the Nintendo DS that will be out in the fourth quarter of 2008, where the player will be able to raise a baby. It is a simulation game that has some features reminiscent of Nintendogs in that the player will feed the baby and give it baths. Players will help the baby develop. They will teach it to crawl and walk. A player will help the baby through all the early stages of development. This is where I think this game has great potential as a learning tool for young children.

 

I think this game can be an amazing teaching tool for young children who have a sibling on the way. The game can be used to teach children how their young sibling on the way will develop. I think this game can help alleviate some of the jealousy children feel towards the new baby. It may make them interested in helping their new sibling develop like the baby develops in the game. I also, do not think this should be consider strictly a "pink" game. This is a great game for parents to play with their young children, both boys and girls as a teaching tool. However, as players get older the game clearly will become more appealing to girls then boys.

 

This has the chance to be an excellent introductory level game for very young children to play with their parents. It also has the chance to be a great game for girls. I should get an updated look at this game in late September or October. To do the final review of this game, I am working on an arrangement to have a mother with an infant and toddler that has played Nintendogs on the DS to review the game to see how it helps her understand the development of her little sister. They will also try out the game for all of the usual things that readers expect out of a review.

 

There should be a preview of one more Nintendo DS title tomorrow from the July 9 San Francisco event. Then it will be back to covering a few of the titles that were at E3.
